Description: This dynamic two-hour training introduces participants to the MOTAS, MOTAS-EL, the Kindness Method, and a trauma-informed framework for assessment, intervention, and delivering high quality treatment. Designed for clinicians, educators, caregivers and anyone who works closely with people, the session blends philosophy, practical tools, and real-world application.

Hour 1 – Foundations & Framework

- Welcome and orientation to “Meaningful Outcomes”

- The MOTAS & MOTAS-EL:

  • Overview of domains across lifespan (early learner through adult)
  • How MOTAS prioritizes quality of life, relationships, and autonomy

Hour 2 – Kindness Method

- The Kindness Method:

  • Kindness is the method, not the reward
  • How compassion, attunement, and safety accelerate learning
  • Shifting from compliance-based models to connection-based growth

- Understanding behavior through a trauma lens

  • How stress, adversity, and unmet needs shape development
  • Differentiating skill deficits from protective responses

- Using the Kindness Method

  • Identifying strengths as anchors for healing
  • Writing goals that build safety, agency, and resilience

- Case examples across ages (child, teen, adult)

- Interactive goal-writing and discussion

- Practical takeaways participants can use immediately in assessment, treatment planning, and daily practice

Participants leave with a clear understanding of how to assess what truly matters, write meaningful goals, and support growth through kindness, developmentally informed practice, and trauma-aware care.
